How to do it, step by step

  1. For an old printed photo, scan it with the Google PhotoScan app or take a straight, well-lit picture.
  2. Open it in Google Photos and tap Edit.
  3. Try the auto-enhance button first.
  4. Use Magic Eraser (or the eraser tool) to remove spots or unwanted things.
  5. Save a copy so you keep the original too.
Tip: Always keep the original. Edits are easy to redo, lost photos aren't.
